View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On Monday, the 1st, the whole country will be mostly cloudy, and heavy rain of up to 100mm is expected in the central region including the Seoul metropolitan area until the 2nd.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that hot and humid air will flow in between the tropical depression, Typhoon Trases No. 6, and the North Pacific high pressure system, bringing 30 to 100mm of rain until tomorrow to the Seoul metropolitan area, western Gangwon, Chungnam region, northern Chungbuk, eastern Jeonnam southern coast, western Gyeongnam southern coast, around Jirisan, and Jeju Island. Other areas are expected to receive 10 to 60mm of rain.
Heavy rain exceeding 30mm per hour will fall in different regions at different times, so caution is needed to prevent rain damage. The Seoul metropolitan area, western Gangwon, Chungnam region, and northern Chungbuk will experience heavy rain in the morning, while eastern Jeonnam southern coast, western Gyeongnam southern coast, southern, eastern, and mountainous areas of Jeju Island, and around Jirisan will have heavy rain until the afternoon. The Seoul metropolitan area, western Gangwon, and northern Chungbuk will see another bout of heavy rain exceeding 30mm per hour between dawn and morning on the 2nd.
The Korea Meteorological Administration advised, "Heavy rain has already fallen since the 30th on the southern coast of Jeonnam, around Jirisan, and Jeju Island, and additional rainfall may cause damage, so precautions against rain damage are necessary." They added, "Be cautious of flooding in low-lying areas, river overflows, rapid currents, and landslides. Prepare for flooding of farmland, irrigation canals, rapid currents, and possible backflow in sewage systems, storm drains, and drainage outlets. Since rain falling in valleys or upstream rivers can suddenly increase water levels downstream, please refrain from camping."
At 3 a.m. on this day, Typhoon Songda No. 5 weakened to a tropical depression, and Typhoon Trases No. 6 is expected to weaken to a tropical depression between this morning and noon. As of 3 a.m., Trases is moving northward at 54 km/h about 310 km west of Mokpo, with a central pressure of 998 hPa.
While it rains, the heat will ease, but after the rain stops, the heatwave will return. The highest daytime temperature on the 1st is expected to be between 28 and 33 degrees Celsius. Seoul 32°C, Cheongju 33°C, Daejeon 32°C, Gwangju 30°C, Busan 31°C, Jeju 33°C. From the 2nd, temperatures will rise in areas where the rain has stopped, and the highest apparent temperature will exceed 33°C, making it very hot. Fine dust levels are expected to be 'Good' across all regions due to smooth atmospheric dispersion and the effect of precipitation.
