Voice Phishing Crime Government Joint Investigation Team Officially Launches Tomorrow at Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The joint government task force against voice phishing crimes (Task Force) will officially launch on the 29th at the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office, a cybercrime-focused agency. The Task Force is composed of the prosecution, police, National Tax Service, and financial authorities.
According to the police on the 28th, the Task Force leader is Kim Ho-sam (31st Judicial Research and Training Institute class), chief prosecutor of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office, with six prosecutors assigned under him. From the police side, 25 officers with experience in voice phishing investigations, including Kim Jung-ok, superintendent and head of the investigation division at Chuncheon Police Station in Gangwon Province, were dispatched.
The Ministry of Justice announced last month that it would thoroughly track down everyone from the lowest-level cash collectors of voice phishing organizations to call center employees and masterminds, and had previously announced the launch of the joint government task force against voice phishing crimes, which brings together government agencies.
