Kang In-seon, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, stated during a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office in the afternoon that the National Security Office conveyed this position concerning Chairman Kim's speech.
In particular, the National Security Office explained, "We express deep regret over Chairman Kim Jong-un mentioning the President by name and making threatening remarks against our government," adding, "The government maintains a constant readiness posture capable of responding strongly and effectively to any provocations from North Korea, and will protect national security and the safety of the people based on the firm ROK-US alliance." It further emphasized, "As the government has consistently stated, we urge North Korea to come to the path of dialogue for substantive denuclearization and peace settlement."
According to the Korean Central News Agency, Chairman Kim stated at the recent 69th anniversary Victory Day event, "If you think you can preemptively neutralize or confront a part of our military power, absolutely not! Such a dangerous attempt will be immediately punished by strong force, and the Yoon Suk-yeol regime and its military will be annihilated."
