Results of University Joint Marketing... Open Innovation Support Projects for Technology Transfer Progressing Smoothly
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Chairman Kim Jong-ho, hereinafter referred to as Kibo) announced on the 28th that it mediated a total of 560 technology transfer contracts in the first half of this year, a significant increase compared to 475 contracts in the first half of the previous year.
In particular, by focusing on joint marketing with universities, Kibo supported the mediation of a total of 284 technology transfers in the first half of this year, an increase of 91 cases (47%) compared to 193 cases in the first half of last year. Specifically, the order was Chungnam National University with 76 cases, Soongsil University with 33 cases, and Hanbat National University with 29 cases, while among research institutes, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) signed the most technology transfer contracts with 13 cases.
Additionally, Kibo matched 129 tasks required by companies participating in the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' '2022 Industry-Academia-Research Collabo R&D Project' with research institutes, resulting in 30 tasks being selected for the preliminary research stage. This is more than four times the performance compared to last year's 49 matches (7 tasks selected for the preliminary research stage).
Kibo's open technology innovation support project helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that find it difficult to develop technology on their own to strengthen their technological innovation capabilities through technology transfer mediation, while also supporting funds related to technology transfer and commercialization, playing a role in business success. To this end, Kibo operates the open technology trading platform 'Tech Bridge' to connect technologies held by the public sector with the desired technologies needed by SMEs.
