According to the city on the 28th, the Management Area was introduced last year to prevent indiscriminate development in aging low-rise residential areas and to promote small-scale housing maintenance projects. The main purpose of the project is to revitalize small-scale housing maintenance projects by having the public sector support the installation of infrastructure and apply various regulatory exemptions.
The candidate sites selected as Management Areas?east side of Daejeon Daemun Middle School in Munhwa-dong (62,473㎡), south side of Dongyangdang Daemaeul Apartment in Yucheon-dong (56,961㎡), and south side of Taepyeong Middle School in Taepyeong-dong (69,600㎡)?are areas where reconstruction maintenance projects have been canceled. Although the need for maintenance is high, these areas are considered underdeveloped due to poor road conditions and low business feasibility, and have been excluded from various development projects.
If the three areas including Munhwa-dong are finally designated as Management Areas, they can receive up to 30 billion KRW each in national and city funds necessary for the creation of infrastructure such as roads, parking lots, parks, and libraries.
Through this, the city expects to resolve the negative impact of standalone apartment construction on the urban environment while contributing to the creation of a pleasant urban environment by expanding living SOC (Social Overhead Capital).
The candidate sites for Management Areas, including Munhwa-dong, will proceed with the project through procedures such as collecting residents’ opinions and holding explanatory meetings, establishing and applying management plans, public inspection by residents, review by local committees, and designation and announcement of Management Areas.
Previously, in Daejeon, Seongnam-dong, Yongun-dong, and Yongjeon-dong in Dong-gu were selected and designated as pilot projects for Management Areas last year, and related projects are currently underway.
