Historical Verification Explanation and Safety Inspection of Facilities Conducted
On-site inspection of Ilwol Cultural Park embodying the spirit of Ilwoljeong in Pohang.

About ten officials, including Mayor Kang-deok Lee, local historian In Hwang, and Vice Chairman Sang-jun Lee of the Pohang Cultural Center, attended the inspection. They reviewed the current status of the park development, inspected major facilities within the park, and received an explanation about the spirit of Ilwol culture from historian In Hwang, conducting a practical inspection.
First, the person in charge of the Ilwol Cultural Park development gave a brief explanation of the main facilities, followed by an on-site tour led by Vice Chairman Sang-jun Lee of the Pohang Cultural Center. They discussed the historical verification of facilities such as the statues of Yeonorang and Seonyeo, the memorial platform, Ilwolji Pond, and the exhibition hall within the Ilwol Cultural Park, along with the arrangement and safety inspection of the major facilities.

Pohang City’s Ilwol Cultural Park was planned in 2013 as part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Silla Culture Coastal Road project. Land compensation began in 2017, and the content project was completed at the end of June this year, marking the final completion. The park, located in Segye-ri 130, Ocheon-eup, covers approximately 7,000 pyeong (about 23,100 square meters) and was developed with a total investment of 12.5 billion KRW, including national and local government funds (4.8 billion KRW for land compensation, 6 billion KRW for construction, and 1.7 billion KRW for content development).
