[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 26th regarding the establishment of the Police Bureau within the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, "I hope the newly established Police Bureau will rationally improve personnel management and police systems."
On the afternoon of the same day, at the Yongsan Presidential Office building during a briefing by Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, President Yoon urged for rational improvements in the police system and requested, "I hope the minister and the police leadership communicate smoothly regarding police affairs," according to Kang In-sun, spokesperson for the Presidential Office.
Regarding police personnel, President Yoon ordered that fair promotions and assignments be made according to the police entry routes.
President Yoon also instructed, "While 96.35% of all police officers enter as patrol officers, only 2.3% of those at the rank of Senior Superintendent or above come from patrol officer backgrounds," emphasizing the need to "resolve personnel unfairness," Kang added.
President Yoon urged Minister Lee to ensure thorough efforts for the rapid advancement of the Digital Platform Government to upgrade administrative services.
Additionally, he advised analyzing organizational efficiency relative to workload by agency, improving overall organizational efficiency through personnel adjustments and reallocations, and recommended the disclosure of statistics related to organizational efficiency and performance.
