KBS President Kim Euicheol Involved in 'False Address Registration' Controversy Refuses Police Request for Data Submission
Obstruction of Business Due to Hierarchical Abuse
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] The side of KBS President candidate Kim Eui-cheol, who was accused of submitting false information during his registration, refused to provide related materials to the police.
The Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency recently requested the KBS Board Secretariat to submit application documents, mid-term interview materials, and results from when KBS appointed President Kim, but they did not submit them, the agency revealed on the 26th. The Secretariat reportedly refused to submit the materials citing personal information concerns.
In April, the KBS Labor Union filed a complaint with the police accusing KBS President Kim Eui-cheol of obstruction of business by abuse of authority. They claimed that in October last year, Kim submitted documents containing false information to the KBS Board during his candidacy registration. The union pointed out that the false information involved Kim’s alleged disguised residence registration in 1983 and the use of a down contract during an apartment sale in 2004.
