The K-Digital Platform is a system operated by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea to nurture core talents of the 4th Industrial Revolution through digital convergence training. It selects operating institutions and opens digital training, facilities, and equipment to demanders such as employees of small and medium-sized enterprises, young job seekers, and small business owners.
POSCO, selected as an operating institution of the K-Digital Platform, has newly equipped a digital-only training center and 3D printers at the POSCO Human Resources Creation Center in Pohang to operate training courses composed of 360 hours including theory and practice such as ▲Web Frontend Development, ▲Web Backend Development, and Database Management.
Even non-majors without software development experience can acquire the capability to be employed as developers upon completing the course, supporting employment in the IT field.
Considering the reality that many small and medium-sized enterprises face difficulties in finding digital talents, POSCO has opened remote studios and modeling classrooms using 3D printers to employees of nearby small and medium-sized enterprises in the heavy and chemical industrial complexes in Pohang and Ulsan.
In addition, it plans to nurture digital talents through group education for those wishing to be employed in IT jobs and connect them to employment in related small and medium-sized enterprises.
Furthermore, the POSCO K-Digital Platform project team will provide a ‘Digital Job Competency Diagnosis Online Service’ from September to diagnose and support learning of digital job competencies by job type.
Han Hyung-cheol, Head of Labor Cooperation Office, said, “We expect the K-Digital Platform to serve as a bridge connecting companies, employees, and job seekers and to meet the new training demands of the labor market due to the digital transformation of industries.”
