Since 2017, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has selected institutions and organizations that have worked hard to protect socially vulnerable groups as Best Partners every half year. Through this, they have fostered collaborative relationships with these institutions and organizations and established a social safety net.
For the first half of this year, a total of six organizations were selected as Best Partners: two social organizations, three public institutions, and one corporate social contribution entity. These organizations were recognized for their sincere efforts in improving the quality of life for crime victims and crime prevention activities, and were finally selected after recommendations and evaluations.
In the social organization category, the 'Korea Multicultural Youth Association' was selected. It identified multicultural youth crime victims facing economic and psychological difficulties and provided scholarships quarterly. Additionally, it supported Korean translation devices for students and parents who were not proficient in Korean.
Another organization selected in the social organization category, the 'Guro-gu Pharmaceutical Association,' helped children exposed to domestic violence or child abuse. Since 2019, this organization has supported 410 individuals with various medical supplies.
In the public institution category, the 'Seoul National University Child Protection Committee' was selected. This institution actively engaged in addressing child abuse cases following the child abuse death incident in Yangcheon in October 2020. It supported investigations through rapid treatment and examination of abused children and medical consultations on 97 unclear child abuse cases, and jointly participated in creating a work manual to help on-site police smoothly use child abuse specialized medical institutions.
Another selected institution, the 'Songpa-gu Office Childcare and Youth Division Child Protection Team,' assisted police investigations by holding child abuse judgment meetings involving police, dedicated district officials, and child protection experts when suspected child abuse cases occurred. Additionally, the 'Nowon-gu Office,' another selected institution, established an integrated management system through a business agreement signed with the Nowon Police Station in October 2018 for operating the 'Pine Tree Center,' and based on this, carried out various activities for case management and prevention of recurrence in families at risk of domestic violence.
In the corporate social contribution category, 'Samyang Foods' was selected. To prevent missing children under 18, Samyang Foods included the 'Fingerprint Pre-registration System' on one million snack bags of 'Sattobap' featuring police characters. Furthermore, to prevent school violence, they displayed promotional messages such as 'Stop School Violence & Call 117' on the packaging of 200,000 'Jjajjaroni' cup noodles, contributing to proactive crime prevention activities.
