Students of Dongmyung University are engaging in talent donation-based sharing activities.

A total of 25 students from 6 departments are engaging in talent-donation type sharing activities targeting 5 organizations.
The departments participating in the 2022 first semester Service Learning since June and their target organizations are ▲Visual Design Department - Goejeong Alley Market ▲Nursing Department - Minrak Alley Market ▲Advertising PR Department - Motungi Theater ▲Speech Therapy and Audiology Department - Sorinara Language Development Center ▲Sports Rehabilitation Department - Minrak Alley Market ▲Counseling Psychology Department - Sasang District Youth Training Center.
The Visual Design Department is improving the brand identity of the Goejeong Alley Market delivery service ‘Ondemande Goejeong’.
The Advertising PR Department is leading trends by filming and producing Instagram promotional content reels to promote Motungi Theater and increase citizen participation.
The Nursing Department is conducting health checkups and education for small business owners at Minrak Alley Market using the application ‘Health-up’ developed in the previous semester’s Service Learning.
The Sports Rehabilitation Department measures the physical characteristics of merchants at Minrak Alley Market, educates them on exercise methods, and conducts stretching and massages using various small tools.
The Speech Therapy and Audiology Department enhances communication skills and social-emotional stability through cultural tourism experience activities with developmentally disabled youth at Sorinara Language Development Center.
The Counseling Psychology Department conducts art therapy and academic reflection counseling programs with students and participants working as a team.
Professor Kim Jae-ik of the Visual Design Department said, “Through continuous meetings, activities, and writing reflection journals, participating students must have gained a lot of heartfelt learning.”
Producer Kim Gai of Motungi Theater said, “I was moved by the students’ active participation, adaptation, and diverse ideas,” and added, “I look forward to future activities.”
Dongmyung University’s Service Learning started in the second semester of 2020 and this is the fourth time. In August 2021, Dongmyung University signed a business agreement with Busan City to support traditional markets and small business owners. The final report meeting in September will share the achievements of the semester.

‘Service Learning,’ which combines Service and Learning, is already a common system in American universities. In Korea, the concept of learning has been introduced into volunteer activities and has been actively implemented centered on Dongmyung University for several years.
