[Asia Economy Cho Young-chul] The Asia-Pacific Peace Exchange Association (APPEA) announced on the 25th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Carbon Trading Standard Institute (KCCTS) for climate change response and international development cooperation projects in the Asia-Pacific region.
This MOU focuses on promoting peace and shared prosperity through carbon neutrality activities centered on the Asia-Pacific region. KCCTS plans, operates, and develops projects that create economic value through carbon neutrality activities while fostering peace and stability in exchange regions by achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs), which represent 17 sustainable initiatives of the United Nations (UN).
Through this agreement, the two organizations will leverage APPEA's public international exchange foundation and the Asia-Pacific regional network to establish relationships and community cooperation in related countries, aiming to build peace and shared prosperity in the Asia-Pacific through carbon neutrality.
APPEA and KCCTS will ▲ activate carbon neutrality activities to achieve sustainable goals ▲ seek cooperation measures for climate change development response and carbon reduction ▲ develop cooperative activities (SHERPA) for discovering opportunities to achieve UN-SDGs and reduce carbon ▲ promote cooperation in securing related infrastructure, information sharing, and project publicity.
Abu-su An, President of APPEA, stated, "The foundation of peace worldwide is expected to collapse due to climate change, leading to increasingly difficult situations," adding, "To delay this, carbon neutrality activities must be actively carried out."
