According to Seoul and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, 35,107 people across 17 cities and provinces nationwide were confirmed positive for COVID-19. This is 28,175 fewer than the 63,282 cases recorded during the same time frame the previous day, roughly half the amount.
The number of new cases had been between 60,000 and 70,000 during weekdays last week, but the decrease in testing over the weekend is believed to have led to the reduced number of confirmed cases.

As the COVID-19 resurgence began, the government strengthened quarantine measures for incoming travelers by requiring PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests to be taken on the first day of entry starting from the 25th, instead of within three days of arrival. Additionally, face-to-face visits to nursing hospitals and facilities will be suspended to protect high-risk groups.
