According to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education on the 24th, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Sarang Elementary School in Oryong 2 District, requested by the Office of Education, at the '2022 Regular 3rd Central Investment Review Committee' held over three days starting from the 19th. Additionally, at the regular 2nd review in April, the establishment of a 1st grade elementary and 1st grade middle school in Oryong 2 District was approved, with plans to open in September 2025.
The Office of Education is promoting the establishment of a total of six schools (2 kindergartens, 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1 high school) to provide a stable educational environment in line with the construction of 6,138 apartment units in Muan Oryong 2 District.
Sarang Elementary School is planned to be built on a 15,000㎡ site with a total project cost of 39.1 billion KRW, accommodating 37 classes, aiming to open in September 2025. Design costs and other expenses will be reflected in next year's main budget and will be promoted step by step.
In addition, in October, the Ministry of Education will be requested to conduct a central investment review for the establishment of Oryong High School (tentative name), a long-awaited project in Muan Oryong District, and an integrated elementary and middle school in Gwangyang Hwanggeum District.

Superintendent Kim Dae-jung stated, “The school establishment plan has passed the central investment review to create a residential environment due to the housing development project and to provide a stable educational environment for students. We will do our best for the establishment of a high school in Oryong District, which is the hope of the local community, at the central investment review in October.”
