[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] The police have summoned former Dongdaemun District Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol again for investigation on charges of accepting bribes in exchange for employee promotions.
The Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency summoned and questioned former Mayor Yoo on the 22nd.
The police had previously summoned former Mayor Yoo on the 3rd and 7th of last month and requested an arrest warrant, but the prosecution dismissed it on the 27th of last month.
Former Mayor Yoo is suspected of receiving tens of millions of won in bribes from district office employees in exchange for promotions. He is also accused of using district office funds for personal purposes.
In August of last year, the police conducted searches at six locations including former Mayor Yoo's residence and offices. Subsequently, a travel ban was imposed on him in April.

Meanwhile, at the time of his police booking, former Mayor Yoo denied the charges but stated, "However, there may be differences in opinion regarding compliance with regulations related to the execution of business promotion expenses."
