Gwangju Seo-gu Opens Park Water Playground After 2 Years

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim I-gang) has opened and is operating park water play areas, which were popular summer urban resorts, starting from the 22nd.

According to Seo-gu on this day, the newly opened park water play areas are located in Sangmu Citizen Park in Chipyeong-dong and Ssanghak Children's Park in Ssangchon-dong. They had not been operated due to the spread of COVID-19 but have reopened after more than two years as social distancing measures were eased.

Before the opening, on the 12th, Seo-gu Mayor Kim I-gang visited the water play areas as part of an inspection of facilities closely related to residents' daily lives and instructed officials to conduct thorough safety inspections and complete perfect repairs of the facilities before opening.

Subsequently, Seo-gu refurbished aged facilities such as cracked floors and prepared for the opening by providing aqua shoes to prevent user injuries, completing all preparations for the opening on this day.

The water play areas are available for children aged 10 and under. They operate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. on weekends and public holidays until the 21st of next month.

However, they are closed on Mondays for cleaning and facility inspections.

For the safety of children, Seo-gu has assigned two safety managers to the two water play areas to ensure prompt action in case of emergencies and plans to conduct water quality tests to maintain strict hygiene management.

A Seo-gu official said, “We will thoroughly manage the facilities and hygiene so that children can safely enjoy water play close to the urban area. As COVID-19 is spreading again, we hope everyone uses the water play areas safely and enjoyably while strictly following personal quarantine rules such as wearing masks.”
