[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan Culture and Arts Center will operate practical art and music courses for three months from August to October in the second half of this year.
The practical courses consist of a total of 13 subjects: 9 art practice subjects including drawing, oil painting, watercolor, and calligraphy with Ulsan artists, and 4 music practice subjects including traditional music and Western music taught by instructors who are members of the Ulsan Municipal Art Troupe.
Applications for enrollment will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis by subject through the center’s website from 10 a.m. on July 26 until August 1. The number of students and tuition fees vary by subject.
In the drawing field of art practice, there are two courses: Drawing Colored Pencil, where students draw detailed botanical illustrations using colored pencils, and Drawing Human Body, which focuses on understanding and expressing the structure of the human body.
In the oil painting field, two courses are offered: Oil Painting Landscape and Oil Painting Still Life, where students learn expression techniques using oil paints and freely paint natural landscapes and still life subjects.
The watercolor field offers courses in watercolor landscape and still life, teaching various watercolor techniques to enable students to express unique works.
Additionally, in the calligraphy field, three courses are opened: Seoganche (a style of Korean calligraphy) where the beauty of Hangul can be expressed with brush and ink, Hangul calligraphy, and Muninhwa (literati painting) which allows students to feel the Korean aesthetic of empty space.
For music practice, traditional music courses include Daegeum and Piri, where students learn the structure and fingering of the instruments and perform songs ranging from children’s songs to folk songs and solo pieces, guided by members of the Municipal Dance and Gugak Troupe.
In Western music, flute and violin courses are provided, with solid foundational instruction and progression to various small pieces, conducted by members of the Municipal Symphony Orchestra.
