View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] POSCO and the Innovilt Alliance will participate in Korea Build, the largest construction and architecture expo in Korea, held for four days from the 28th to the 31st of this month at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul.
Innovilt is Korea's first premium steel building materials integrated brand created by POSCO. POSCO certifies products from customers that use 100% POSCO steel and, considering factors such as technology and marketability, recognizes those that can lead sustainable future construction as Innovilt products. Currently, POSCO has alliance agreements with 129 customers holding 213 Innovilt products.
At this expo, POSCO plans to showcase the 'Innovilt Pavilion,' which realizes actual architectural spaces using Innovilt products. The Innovilt Pavilion is composed of three zones: ▲multi-family housing (apartments) ▲architectural structures ▲modular.
At the entrance of the Innovilt Pavilion, visitors are welcomed by prefab products manufactured in advance at the factory, including apartment complex gate pillars and steel art walls, which are apartment sidewall panels. These products, which enhance the prestige of apartments, are all constructed using the OSC (Off-Site Construction) method, significantly shortening construction periods and effectively preventing safety accidents. They have recently been well received after being applied to POSCO Construction's The Sharp and GS Construction's The President Xi apartments.
In the multi-family housing zone, a small art gallery is created using 'POSART' art walls and frames. POSART is a high-resolution color steel plate that combines steel materials with inkjet printing technology, offering more than four times higher resolution and precise designs compared to conventional printed steel plates, as well as 3D textures with a sense of depth.
Additionally, fire hydrant boxes without welding made from POSCO's high-corrosion-resistant steel 'POSMAC,' stainless steel water waves, POSMAC louvers for ceilings, eco-friendly metal kitchen furniture, and residential spaces applying printed steel plates are exhibited, presenting interior solutions that are highly corrosion-resistant and aesthetically pleasing.
In the architectural structure zone, composite structural products (columns, beams, floors) that reduce the use of concrete and auxiliary materials and shorten construction time, thereby effectively reducing carbon dioxide emissions, are displayed. To help visitors easily understand the usually unseen skeleton of buildings, detailed views of the interiors of main structural materials and connection methods between structural members are also shown.
Along with this, various pipe supports and cable trays necessary for piping and electrical wiring installation, steel curtain walls with superior insulation and fire resistance compared to aluminum, and hollow rebar that reduces weight by about 50% and carbon emissions by about 40% compared to deformed rebar are exhibited.
In the modular zone, POSCO's steel modular technology, which it has pioneered and promoted, demonstrates why it is the best eco-friendly construction method. Modular construction is an innovative method where more than 70-80% of the process is pre-produced and assembled in factories, allowing fast on-site construction without noise and dust, shortening construction periods by 30-60%, and being recognized as the best building solution for reuse and recycling.
To highlight the excellent residential performance of modular construction, including fire resistance, earthquake resistance, soundproofing, and insulation, detailed displays of columns, walls, and floors are provided. In particular, POSCO A&C, which possesses the best modular know-how in Korea, will showcase premium small houses designed and manufactured directly, allowing visitors to consult and even contract purchases on-site.
Through this exhibition, POSCO plans to actively promote that steel building materials not only solve current issues in the construction industry such as safety, shortened construction periods, and labor shortages but also reduce the amount of construction materials and waste like sand and gravel needed for concrete production, making them eco-friendly future construction materials that are recyclable.
