According to the Korea Paper Association on the 21st, it has been operating the 'Permanent Safety Council,' composed of safety managers from all member company workplaces, since 2019, carrying out various activities to ensure safety at paper industry sites.
The Permanent Safety Council has been actively working to prevent serious accidents through activities such as safety response research projects, dispatching inspection teams to Japan, compiling accident statistics, participating in safety culture promotion contests hosted by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency since 2020, and winning the grand prize at last year's best practice presentation contest.
In line with the '2022 Occupational Safety and Health Emphasis Week' hosted by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, the Permanent Safety Council held a general meeting on the 7th to discuss measures for preventing serious accidents in the paper industry. About 70 safety and health officials from 24 workplaces nationwide attended the meeting, showing strong interest in responding to the Serious Accident Punishment Act and accident prevention measures.
Although the paper industry has a lower accident rate compared to manufacturing and similar industries, the nature of the equipment makes it highly susceptible to serious accidents such as entrapment. Accordingly, in the first half of the year, the paper industry produced and distributed the 'Common Safety Response Procedure Manual for the Paper Industry' covering key items such as risk assessment and safety and health worker feedback, and published paper industry accident statistics. In the second half, various activities are planned, including safety campaigns, distribution of safety signs, site tours, and safety and health conferences.
