The two companies will display two Torres vehicles in front of the main entrance of the Gangnam POSCO Center from the 20th to the 21st, offering test drive opportunities and purchase consultations to nearby office workers and residents.
This joint promotion was organized to support Ssangyong Motor, which is releasing a new car after about three and a half years. POSCO is creating shared value to build a robust ecosystem with its business partners, directly practicing its management philosophy of being a "corporate citizen that grows together."
The two companies have maintained a cooperative relationship since 1973. They have engaged in technical exchanges focusing on the application of new high-strength steel, vehicle body lightweighting and safety enhancement, manufacturing process improvements for cost reduction, and joint development of parts.
Additionally, the Torres, developed through close collaboration from the new car development stage, applies high-strength steel such as POSCO Giga Steel, known as the "dream steel sheet," and Advanced High-Strength Steel (AHSS) to about 78% of the vehicle body, achieving high strength, workability, and eco-friendliness.
On the first day of the event, POSCO Vice Chairman Kim Hak-dong, Ssangyong Motor Manager Jeong Yong-won, POSCO Marketing Director Jeong Tak, and Ssangyong Motor Purchasing Director Park Kyung-won attended, test drove the Torres, and agreed to continue smooth cooperation.
Vice Chairman Kim said, "I wish for the successful launch of the Torres and support Ssangyong Motor, our long-time business partner, in growing into a global eco-friendly car manufacturer. We will spare no support for our clients' advancement with the best technology."
Manager Jeong responded, "Thanks to the strategic partnership based on trust with POSCO, we were able to develop and present the SUV Torres with excellent product competitiveness. Let us continue our research and development efforts based on the solid cooperative relationship between the two companies."
