Human Rights Commission Investigates Air Force Unit Female Soldier Death Case... "Attending Autopsy and More"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The National Human Rights Commission has launched an immediate investigation following the death of another female non-commissioned officer at the Air Force 20th Fighter Wing (hereinafter 20th Wing), where the late Sergeant Lee Yeram served.
On the 19th, the Human Rights Commission stated, "We received notification of the death incident from the Ministry of National Defense," adding, "In accordance with the decision of the Military Human Rights Protection Officer, we immediately dispatched investigators to assess the situation and informed the relevant unit that we will be present during the upcoming autopsy and investigation process."
Earlier that day, around 8:10 a.m., Corporal A, in her early 20s and having just completed one year since commissioning, was found dead in the single dormitory within the 20th Wing base located in Seosan, Chungnam Province. Circumstances at the scene suggest an apparent suicide. The 20th Wing is the unit where Sergeant Lee Yeram, who died by suicide in May last year, was sexually harassed while on duty.
