Prosecution Seeks 10-Month Prison Sentence for Choi Kang-wook on 'Channel A Reporter Defamation' Charges

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] In relation to the 'Channel A incident,' the prosecution has requested a 10-month prison sentence for Representative Choi Kang-wook, who was brought to trial on charges of spreading false information about former Channel A reporter Lee Dong-jae on social media.
On the 19th, Judge Kim Taekyun of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 16 presided over the sentencing hearing for Representative Choi, who was indicted on defamation charges.
On that day, the prosecutor stated, "The victim has complained that false information was maliciously and widely spread, severely damaging his reputation, and is requesting a harsh punishment," and asked the court to sentence him to 10 months in prison.
Earlier, Representative Choi was brought to trial on charges of defamation for posting on his social media account on April 3, 2020, that "Former reporter Lee told former representative Lee Cheol to 'turn a blind eye and say you gave money to Yoo Si-min,' and said, 'They will search Yoo Si-min's house and family, as well as the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, where Yoo Si-min serves as chairman.'
