Gangjin-gun, Swift First Supplementary Budget of 36.7 Billion Won Formulated in the 8th Elected Term
Establishment of 4th Industrial Revolution Utilization Center, Budget Reflected for Attracting 5 Million Tourists
[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin County swiftly formulated and finalized the 3rd supplementary budget immediately following the launch of the 8th local government administration on the 18th.
The 3rd supplementary budget amounts to 601.1 billion KRW, an increase of 36.7 billion KRW from the previous supplementary budget of 564.4 billion KRW. The funds were secured through increased local allocation tax from the government supplementary budget, national and provincial subsidies, and net surplus funds.
The main direction of the budget formulation focused on proactively responding to the economic crisis caused by high inflation and high oil prices to stabilize people’s livelihoods, and on preparing a basic plan for the new vision of Gangjin under the 8th local government administration.
The key budget items include ▲temporary emergency living support funds for low-income groups ▲COVID-19 living support funds ▲fertilizer price stabilization support to stabilize the livelihood economy, and for promoting major priority projects of the 8th local government administration, ▲establishment and operation of the 4th Industrial Revolution Support Center ▲establishment of the Small Business Promotion Foundation ▲nationwide branding of Gangjin glutinous rice ▲creation of Gangjin County as a music city ▲development of tourism products such as night tourism ▲creation of a food town in Gangjin-eup ▲construction of 2,000 rural houses and creation of new jobs through attracting 5 million tourists, which includes fundamental solutions to population decline.
Meanwhile, this supplementary budget marks a significant milestone as the first time in Gangjin County’s history to enter the 600 billion KRW era.
This is interpreted as the result of the county’s strategic response and efforts, including frequent visits to the National Assembly and central government ministries to continuously request budget allocation for ongoing projects, selection for various public contests, and thorough management to secure stable local allocation tax.
Gangjin County Governor Kang Jin-won said, “The top priority issue for Gangjin is revitalizing the local economy by alleviating the burden on people’s livelihoods,” adding, “Starting with this supplementary budget, we plan to provide broader and stronger support to residents facing difficulties, and we will strive to attract 5 million tourists by enhancing the quality of tourism resources.” He further stated, “We will integrate the 4th Industrial Revolution into all areas of county administration including tourism, economy, and culture to create the miracle of Gangjin with increased jobs and population.”
