Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 18th that it will conduct a training program titled "Smart City Planning and Implementation Expert Course" by inviting officials from the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the implementing agency of the Indonesia Capital Relocation Project.
The training, held from the 17th of this month until August 20th, is part of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)'s global training program and serves as a follow-up measure to the "Korea-Indonesia Capital Relocation Cooperation MOU" signed between the two governments at the 2019 Korea-ASEAN Special Summit.
Through this MOU, LH, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Korea Water Resources Corporation, and Korea Expressway Corporation formed Team Korea in the fields of smart city, transportation, and water resources, supporting the activation of the G2G cooperation platform.
LH plans to actively support Indonesia's successful capital relocation project by sharing Korea's development cases of Sejong Administrative City and Innovation Cities, as well as transferring experiences in national balanced development, which involved relocating central administrative functions concentrated in the metropolitan area and discovering and nurturing regional potential.
Officials from the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Housing are expected to apply the knowledge acquired through this training to the Indonesia Capital Relocation Project.
The Indonesia Capital Relocation Project is a mega project worth a total of 40 trillion KRW (33 billion USD). The Indonesian government has announced plans to procure about 80% of the project cost through private sector participation. Participation of domestic companies is also anticipated.
