Seoul Metropolitan Council Democratic Party Completes Seminar to Strengthen Legislative Capabilities of Affiliated Members
First Step to Strengthen Capabilities and Enhance Expertise of Democratic Party Members... Various Lectures on Budget Analysis, Policy Audit, and Press Release Writing Techniques Conducted
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The ‘11th Council Democratic Party Members Seminar’ held to strengthen the legislative capabilities of the Democratic Party members of the Seoul Metropolitan Council was successfully concluded.
The Democratic Party of the Seoul Metropolitan Council (Representative Member Jeong Jin-sul, Mapo 3) held a ‘Members Seminar for Strengthening Legislative Capabilities’ on the 14th at the Sema Hall of the Seoul Museum of Art, conducting various sessions to enhance the capabilities of its members.
The seminar, hosted by Planning Deputy Representative Park Su-bin, was divided into morning and afternoon sessions. In the morning, there was a keynote briefing by Representative Jeong Jin-sul, a free discussion, and guidance on the duties and operations of standing committees. In the afternoon, an orientation on legislative activities and lectures on various analytical techniques for capability enhancement were held.
During the negotiation group keynote briefing chaired by Representative Jeong Jin-sul, he briefed the members on the progress of the recent organizational negotiations and current pressing issues, followed by a free discussion with the members on the Democratic Party’s response strategies. Afterwards, guidance on the duties and operations of each standing committee of the Seoul Metropolitan Council was provided.
In the legislative activities orientation session of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, a presentation was held on general council operations (support for legislative activities) and parliamentary procedures (support for parliamentary proceedings) that members must learn for smooth legislative activities over the next four years.
In the subsequent lecture session for strengthening members’ capabilities, Jeong Chang-su, Director of the Nara Salim Research Institute, gave lectures on ‘Techniques for Analyzing Supplementary and Main Budget Proposals’ and ‘Policy Audit Techniques for Administrative Affairs Audits,’ while Kim Yu-ri, Team Leader of the Nara Salim Research Institute, conducted a lecture on ‘Data Collection and Analysis Techniques for Press Release Preparation.’
Despite the early start and long schedule, many members attended, demonstrating their strong enthusiasm to become a ‘People-first, Working Democratic Party.’

Representative Jeong Jin-sul expressed his gratitude, saying, “Even in the serious situation ahead of the extraordinary session to handle Seoul’s supplementary budget and organizational restructuring at the beginning of the council’s term, many members participated and honored the event, allowing the first seminar to be successfully completed.” He added, “As a minority party and opposition, enhancing the expertise of members is fundamental for effective and rational legislative activities. Efforts to establish the image of a properly functioning Democratic Party will continue.”
