Gurye-gun Community Security Council Delivers Health Food for Vulnerable Groups on Chobok
400 Sets of Nutritious Food Including Abalone Samgyetang and Fresh Kimchi Delivered to Vulnerable Neighbors and Those in Need
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] The Gurye-gun Community Security Council (Private Chairman Im Jaesin) in Jeollanam-do announced that on July 15, the first day of the hottest period (Chobok), they prepared health food sets including abalone samgyetang and delivered them to 400 vulnerable households in the area.
This event was the first series of the "Sharing Culture Expansion Project (Subtitle: THE Sharing)" promoted by the Gurye-gun Community Security Council. It was organized again to help neighbors in need have a healthy summer, inspired by the great response from last year's beneficiaries.
Council members and the Saemaeul Women's Association gathered early in the morning to carefully prepare samgyetang and fresh kimchi, making 400 health food sets including yakbap (medicinal rice) and fruit. The community security councils in the towns and townships personally delivered the sets to single vulnerable households and those in welfare blind spots, checking on their health and well-being.
Kim Sunho, the governor of Gurye-gun, said, "I thank the council members and Saemaeul Women's Association members who prepared this meaningful event with a heart for neighbors in need." He added, "We will do our best to create a Gurye where no one suffers from the hot summer weather."
Im Jaesin, the private chairman of the Gurye-gun Community Security Council, said, "Last year, it was difficult to prepare due to the hot weather, but many recipients expressed gratitude, saying 'I really enjoyed the meal. It felt like a very precious treat,' which made many of the preparers proud." He added, "I hope the prepared health food sets became a meal that strengthens both body and mind."
Meanwhile, the Gurye-gun Community Security Council plans to continue the Sharing Culture Expansion Project targeting welfare blind spots such as high-risk single-person households, housing crisis households, children and adolescents, and women, starting with this health food support.
