President Yoon's Approval Rating at 32%... Declining for 5 Consecutive Weeks
Korea Gallup Shows 53% Believe It Is 'Performing Poorly'
[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] President Yoon Seok-yeol's approval rating for his national administration has shown a downward trend for five consecutive weeks, reaching 32%, according to a public opinion poll released on the 15th. During the same period, negative evaluations exceeded 50%.
In the 'Presidential Job Performance Evaluation for the 2nd week of July (July 12-14)' released by Gallup Korea on the 15th, 32% of respondents said President Yoon is "performing his duties well." Those who said he is "performing poorly" accounted for 53%, "neither" 5%, and "don't know/refused to answer" 10%.
Compared to last week's poll, the percentage of respondents who said he is "doing well" dropped by 5 percentage points. The percentage of those who said he is "doing poorly" increased by 4 percentage points. Last week's evaluation of President Yoon's job performance was 37% positive and 49% negative.
President Yoon's positive job performance rating has been continuously declining from 53% in the second week of June to the second week of July. During the same period, the negative rating rose from 33% to 53%.
Currently, 62% of those who support the People Power Party responded that President Yoon is "doing well." Among conservatives, it was 53%, and among those aged 70 and above, 51%. The "doing poorly" response was high among supporters of the Democratic Party of Korea (85%), progressives (80%), and those in their 40s (71%).
When asked why they responded positively to President Yoon's job performance, respondents cited "communication" (10%), "overcoming the previous administration" (6%), and "overall good performance" (5%). Conversely, those who responded negatively cited reasons such as "personnel appointments" (26%), "lack of experience, qualifications, incompetence" (11%), "not paying attention to the economy and people's livelihood" (10%), and "lack of communication" (5%).
Party support ratings were 38% for the People Power Party, 33% for the Democratic Party of Korea, 23% for independents, and 5% for the Justice Party.

This survey was conducted with 1,003 people aged 18 and over nationwide. The margin of error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. It was conducted via telephone interviews, with 90% mobile and 10% landline. The response rate was 10.8%.
