What Will You Do When the Driver Wakes Up... Bold 70s Man Steals 10 Million Won in Cash from Car Backseat
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] A man in his 70s was arrested for boldly stealing cash and gift certificates from inside a car while the owner was asleep in the driver's seat.
According to the Busan Western Police Station on the 14th, at around 5 a.m. on June 5, Mr. A entered the car of a man in his 30s, Mr. B, which was parked on the street in Chungmu-dong, Western Busan, and fled with cash.
Mr. A saw Mr. B asleep in the car, opened the car door, took out a bag, and confirmed that there was cash inside. Mr. A stole a total of 10.4 million won, including 10.1 million won in cash and 300,000 won in gift certificates from the bag, and fled.
Mr. B, a self-employed person, was reportedly asleep in the vehicle after drinking alcohol at the time. Upon waking, Mr. B confirmed that the cash in his bag was missing and reported it to the police.
The police, upon receiving the report, confirmed from nearby CCTV footage that Mr. A purchased a paper bag to carry cash at a convenience store near the crime scene, and arrested Mr. A around mid-June.
The police recovered the full amount of the stolen money from Mr. A’s home and arrested him on charges of theft, currently investigating additional crimes.
