Gwangju Buk-gu Public Library Hosts 'Relay Author Lectures' Program

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju City announced on the 14th that it will operate humanities lectures at district-run libraries such as Yangsan and Unam Libraries until November to enhance the humanities literacy of local residents and spread reading culture.
First, at Yangsan Library, a ‘Relay Author Lecture’ mediated by everyday arts such as art, picture books, and dramas will be held.
Starting with a lecture by author Heo Gyobeom, writer of the children's bestseller "Twenty Questions Detective," on the 16th, on August 20, author Meli of "Ussha Ussha Carrot," selected as a Bookstart book in 2022, will give a lecture; on October 13, Lee Dowoo, author of the drama "If the Weather Is Good, I Will Find You" aired on JTBC, will speak; and on November 19, author Lee Eunji of "Bunny's Four Seasons Beauty Salon" will follow.
Meanwhile, at Unam Library, a meeting with children’s story writer Kim Mihui will be held at 3 p.m. on the 29th.
Kim Mihui, who debuted in 2002 with the Korean Daily New Year Literary Contest poem "Running Race," has contributed to the development of Korean children's literature by writing numerous stories and poems such as "Surprise Family."
The lecture will be held under the theme "We Came into the World as Poets," guiding children to engage with poetry more easily and enjoyably through impromptu writing contests.
All lectures are free for any resident to participate in, and applications can be made through the Buk-gu Integrated Library website.
A library official from Buk-gu Office said, "We will continue to operate various reading culture programs so that residents and children can enjoy using the library."
