Kyungbok University to Establish 'Safety and Health Department' Next Year
[Asia Economy (Namyangju) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kyungbok University will establish a Department of Safety and Health next year and recruit 30 new students.
Kyungbok University announced on the 13th that, in response to the growing social awareness of safety and health to protect public health and lives from increasingly diverse industrial accidents, it will establish the Department of Safety and Health and select 30 new students starting in 2023.
The current "Industrial Safety and Health Act" mandates the appointment of safety and health managers in workplaces with 50 or more employees. Additionally, the "Serious Accidents Punishment Act," which came into effect in January 2022, strengthens fines and allows for the detention of business owners in the event of serious accidents.
Accordingly, companies are expanding their investments in workplace safety and health and increasing the hiring of safety and health managers.
