Hanwha Asset Management Lists 'ARIRANG K-Unicorn Investment Companies Active ETF'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hanwha Asset Management announced on the 13th that it has listed the 'ARIRANG K-Unicorn Investment Companies Active ETF' on the Korea Exchange.
The 'ARIRANG K-Unicorn Investment Companies Active ETF' invests in companies that hold shares in unicorn companies valued at over 1 trillion KRW, as announced by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. It includes companies that have invested in unicorn companies based on the business report's other investment status, or companies that have invested in funds or venture capital firms that invest in unicorn companies.
The underlying index is FnGuide's 'FnGuide K-Unicorn Investment Companies Index.' Major constituent stocks are companies holding shares in unicorn companies such as online fashion platforms, car-sharing platforms, fresh food delivery platforms, transportation, entertainment, and fintech platforms.
The number of domestic unicorn companies increased sixfold from 3 in 2017 to 18 in 2021, and continuous growth is expected based on government policy support and deregulation. Hanwha Asset Management stated that since the ARIRANG K-Unicorn ETF invests in listed companies holding shares in unicorn companies, it is expected to indirectly benefit when unicorn companies go public through IPOs.

Based on this, we launched a product that can directly or indirectly benefit from such investments." He added, "In the second half of the year, we will proactively introduce various ETF products that can quickly respond to changes in investment trends, including ETFs investing in global companies that consider artificial intelligence as a future engine, growth themes such as semiconductors, bio, and tech, as well as multi-asset and inflation."
