Russia Reports First Monkeypox Infection Case
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] The first case of monkeypox infection has been reported in Russia.
According to TASS news agency and others, the Russian consumer rights protection and welfare supervision agency, Rospotrebnadzor, stated at a press briefing on the 12th (local time) that "monkeypox infection was confirmed in a young man who visited a hospital after traveling to European countries."

The agency said, "The disease is mild and does not threaten the patient's life," adding, "The patient is isolated in an infectious disease hospital, and contacts are being identified and monitored." It further stated, "The infected person lives alone in an apartment, so contacts are limited," and "Timely testing has prevented the possibility of further spread of the infectious disease."
