At a members' meeting held at the National Assembly on the afternoon of the 11th, Floor Leader Kwon stated, "After receiving legal expert advice from the party's Planning and Coordination Office and reviewing various angles based on accumulated precedents, the suspension of party membership rights is considered an accident, not a vacancy of the party leader position," adding, "According to the party constitution and regulations, there is no way to hold a temporary party convention except in cases of vacancy."
He continued, "I understand that groups of senior lawmakers with three or more terms, second-term lawmakers, and first-term lawmakers gathered separately to discuss the party's direction," emphasizing, "Although there may be some differences in methodology, they basically agreed on the need to quickly resolve this situation and for the party and government to unite to offer new hope to the people."
On the same day, senior lawmakers and first-term lawmakers of the People Power Party held separate meetings at 10:30 a.m. to discuss internal party issues. Second-term lawmakers met at 2 p.m., prior to the members' meeting.
After the second-term lawmakers' meeting, Representative Jeong Jeom-sik explained to reporters, "There is no significant disagreement regarding the interpretation of the party constitution and regulations," and added, "The consensus was reached that this matter should be treated as an 'accident' and thus proceed with an acting leadership system."
Representative Jeong also said, "Everyone agreed that if the six-month suspension of party membership rights is considered an 'accident' status, there is no way to hold a temporary party convention."
In response, Floor Leader Kwon said, "In times of crisis, we must return to basics and embrace the spirit of putting the party before personal interests," adding, "We need to hold open discussions to gather wisdom and hearts to resolve the crisis early and achieve harmony."
