The training was prepared to strengthen investigative capabilities and job expertise for 160 special judicial police officers in the province.
The provincial special judicial police are responsible for investigating cases under the direction of prosecutors and forwarding them to the prosecution for violators of administrative laws in 23 job fields including the Automobile Management Act, fire safety, and forestry, with a total of 642 personnel.
A provincial official explained that although the special judicial police conduct enforcement and investigation activities with expertise in each field, they face difficulties due to lack of investigative experience and unfamiliarity with investigative procedures as they perform both their original administrative duties and investigative tasks simultaneously.
Therefore, to resolve the difficulties of the special judicial police, job training is conducted twice a year in the first and second halves.
This training was conducted by first identifying the investigative career duration, job fields, and areas of interest in investigative procedures of the trainees, then setting the lecture content and direction accordingly.
Prosecutor Lee Young-hoon and Prosecutorial Investigator Park Sung-jun from Changwon District Prosecutors' Office gave lectures on investigative document preparation and suspect interrogation techniques using field cases, and a Q&A session was held regarding questions that arose during regular investigative duties.
Kim Eun-nam, Director of the Social Disaster Division, said, "Among the 160 trainees, 92 special judicial police officers have less than one year of service," and added, "I hope this time will be of some help to those who have had many difficulties due to unfamiliar investigative duties."
