Electricity Demand Hits 91.8GW Before 5 PM, Reaching This Year's Peak 21 Days Earlier Than Last Year

According to the Korea Power Exchange, the maximum power demand at 5 PM that day was recorded at 91.8GW. This figure broke the previous summer peak of 91.1GW (July 27) by 21 days.
As of 6 PM that day, the power supply capacity was 100GW, and the current load was 91.3GW, a decrease of 0.5GW. The supply reserve was 8.6GW, and the supply reserve rate was 9.48%.
The Korea Power Exchange explained, "Due to generally clear weather, the utilization rate of solar power was high, which appears to have increased power demand."
Earlier, on the 30th of last month, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that this year's reserve power forecast was at a minimum of 5.2GW, within the range for issuing a power supply emergency alert.

In fact, the average maximum power last month increased by 4.3% compared to the same month last year, reaching 71.8GW, the highest ever recorded for June since related statistics began in 2005. This is the first time the 70GW range has been exceeded in June.
