Money Spent on Delivery Apps Decreases for Three Consecutive Months... Impact of Social Distancing Lift
WiseApp Survey: Estimated Payment Amount Decreased by 21% in June Compared to March
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Since the lifting of social distancing measures, the amount paid through delivery applications has been decreasing for three consecutive months. On the 5th, app analysis service WiseApp announced this after investigating changes in the estimated payment amounts of major domestic delivery apps following the lifting of social distancing.
Based on a sample survey estimating the amount paid by Koreans aged 20 and over using credit cards, debit cards, account transfers, and small payments on delivery apps, it was found that the estimated payment amount for the three major delivery apps?Baedal Minjok, Yogiyo, and Coupang Eats?last month was 1.87 trillion KRW, marking the lowest point of the year.
Compared to March, before the lifting of social distancing, the estimated payment amount decreased by 21%, from 2.35 trillion KRW in March.
Compared to March, the estimated payment amount for those in their 20s decreased by 16% in June, while those in their 30s decreased by 23%, 40s by 22%, and 50s and older by 20%, showing that all age groups are reducing their use of delivery apps. In particular, the largest decrease was observed in the 30s age group.
