North Korea Sends Congratulatory Message to China... Choe Son-hui's First Official Activity as Foreign Minister
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return of sovereignty and the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui made her first official activity.
According to the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs website on the 1st, Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui sent a congratulatory message to Wang Yi, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister, stating, "We warmly congratulate the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the People's Republic of China." She added, "We sincerely rejoice that the Chinese government's 'One Country, Two Systems' policy has been excellently implemented and that the Hong Kong National Security Law has been effectively enforced, achieving socio-political stability in Hong Kong," and "We wish for continuous development and prosperity in Hong Kong in the future."
Amid the deepening conflicts between the US and China, as well as the US and Russia, solidifying a new Cold War structure, this is interpreted as a demonstration of special friendship and close ties with ally China.

On the same day, marking the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, North Korea published an article titled "China Achieving New Development Under the Leadership of the Communist Party" in the Workers' Party organ Rodong Sinmun, emphasizing that "the friendship between North Korea and China is a precious common asset of the two countries." In particular, it stated, "Despite the unprecedentedly complex and complicated international situation this year, the comradely trust and fighting friendship between North Korea and China are deepening day by day, and the traditional North Korea-China friendship is sublimating and developing to a higher level in various fields including politics, economy, and culture."
