[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Gmarket and Auction announced on the 1st that they will hold a "Travel Big Sale" offering special discounts on domestic and international travel products until the 10th.
This event features coupons, special deals, vacation, and ranking sections. In particular, the vacation section showcases products related to 11 vacation keywords preferred by customers based on a prior survey, such as Jeju Island and hotel stays. The special deals section offers 10 travel products daily from midnight, including 8 domestic and international travel packages and 2 airline tickets. Customers can receive up to a 400,000 KRW discount through a combination of a daily 10% travel coupon and a 10% credit card discount.
From the 16th of last month to the 5th of this month, Gmarket and Auction conducted a survey on "Vacation Travel Plans" with 16,230 customers. When asked if they planned domestic travel, 93% responded affirmatively. Preferred domestic travel durations were 2 nights and 3 days (43%) and 3 nights and 4 days (27%). The top three vacation destinations were Jeju Island (40%), Gangwon Province (21%), and Busan/Gyeongsang Province (20%). Regarding plans for overseas travel this year or next, 63% responded affirmatively. Preferred regions included Southeast Asia (33%), known for resorts, and Oceania (21%), including Guam and Saipan.
