In particular, heavy rainfall of around 100mm in the Yeongseo area of Gangwon caused significant damage.
According to the Gangwon Fire Headquarters on the 30th, at around 1:13 a.m., an SUV driving on a rainy road in Jucheon-myeon, Yeongwol-gun, collided with a roadside tree and fell off the road.
In this accident, the driver was seriously injured, and a woman in her 40s in the passenger seat died.
At around 4:50 a.m. the same day, landslide debris flowed onto Provincial Road 403 in Seomyeon, Chuncheon-si, causing one of the two lanes to be closed. The Road Management Office and Fire Headquarters are currently working on restoration.

Additionally, in Cheorwon, Hwacheon, Pyeongchang, and Yanggu, fallen trees caused road closures, and reports were received requesting drainage work due to water accumulation in houses or basements. Landslide warnings were issued for Cheorwon and Wonju.
The Gangwon Fire Department received a total of 12 reports of rain damage in the province, including 7 road obstructions and 3 safety measures.
Meanwhile, the Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy rain advisory at 10 a.m. for Wonju, Hoengseong, Yeongwol, and Pyeongchang counties.
The heavy rain advisory is issued when rainfall is expected to exceed 60mm in 3 hours or 110mm in 12 hours.
The Meteorological Administration also issued a heat wave advisory for Samcheok City, as well as Donghae, Gangneung, and the southern mountainous areas of Gangwon.
