Chungmu Art Center 'Creative Musical Award NEXT' Selected Works... Nakwon, Dial, Hanseong Tram
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The final competition works for Chungmu Art Center's original musical support program, ‘2022 Original Musical Award NEXT,’ have been selected as ‘Nakwon,’ ‘Dial,’ and ‘Hanseong Jeoncha.’
‘Nakwon’ depicts the story of a young person who was sacrificed during the most chaotic and painful period in Korean history, right after liberation and just before the Korean War. The work portrays young people who each dreamed of different paradises.
‘Dial’ is a black comedy that tells the story of the most anxious yet happiest times through dial telephones, focusing on telephone operators in the early 1970s.
‘Hanseong Jeoncha’ is a historical fiction musical with imaginative elements added to the theme of ‘streetcars.’ Set in the chaotic early 1900s, it weaves a new story based on newspaper articles and actual records from that time.
