[Asia Economy Reporter Seo Mideum] Lim Chang-jung, Jung Sung-hwa, and Yang Jun-mo have been cast as the leads in the musical 'Mrs. Doubtfire.' They will play the role of the grandmother disguised as a cross-dressing man.
The production company Sam Company announced that these three actors will portray the role of 'Daniel' in the musical 'Mrs. Doubtfire,' which will open on August 31 at the Charlotte Theater in Songpa-gu, Seoul. A photo of the character in special makeup as the grandmother was released on the 29th.
'Mrs. Doubtfire' comically tells the story of a man who, after divorce, disguises himself as a grandmother to become his ex-wife's housekeeper in order to see his children. It is based on the 1993 film of the same name.
After being showcased on Broadway, this will be the world's first licensed performance in Korea. The production will be staged in a non-replica (reconstructed original) version domestically.
The role of 'Miranda,' a working mom raising three children alone after divorce, will be played by Shin Young-sook and Park Hye-na, and the child protection officer 'Wanda' will be portrayed by Hong Ji-min, Kim Na-yoon, and Park Jun-myeon.
