Ranked No.1 in Korea for 8 Consecutive Years in Mathematics and Computer Science ... Global Status at 55th Worldwide, 14th in Asia
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeojonggu] Yeungnam University has confirmed once again that its research capabilities are world-class by jumping from 14th place last year to 6th place overall in the ‘2022 Leiden Ranking’ conducted by Leiden University in the Netherlands, which evaluates qualitative levels.
In this ranking, the Mathematics & Computer Science field ranked first in Korea for eight consecutive years, demonstrating outstanding research capabilities.
In particular, the Mathematics & Computer Science field ranked 55th among 1,318 universities worldwide and 14th among 561 universities in Asia.
In addition, Yeungnam University was recognized for its excellence as its rankings rose in most academic fields, including 7th in Korea in Life & Earth Sciences and 16th in Korea in Natural Sciences and Engineering.

The ‘Leiden Ranking’ is a global university ranking by Leiden University in the Netherlands that evaluates university research capabilities based on the qualitative level of papers. It excludes subjective qualitative evaluation factors such as university reputation and calculates rankings by considering the number of papers and the ratio of paper citations.
