Ministry of Economy and Finance-WB Hold 'Innovation and Digital Forum'... "Supporting Economic Growth in Developing Countries"
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Son Seonhee] The Ministry of Economy and Finance and the World Bank (WB) held the 'Innovation and Digital Forum' at 10 a.m. on the 29th at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, this forum was organized to share the achievements of projects in the innovation and digital sectors supported through the Korea-World Bank Partnership Facility (KWPF) and to discuss future cooperation plans. The KWPF is a fund established in October 2012 to support sustainable economic growth in developing countries and to strengthen cooperation between Korea and the World Bank.
In his welcoming remarks at the forum, Shin Junho, Director General of Development Finance at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, stated, "In line with the promising new industry strategic development and workforce training plans included in the recently announced new government economic outlook, we plan to actively support the innovation and digital sectors through the Korea-WB Partnership Facility and the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), among others."
Dirk Reinermann, Director of Development Finance at the World Bank, said in his opening remarks, "Korea's high technological competitiveness and private sector participation will greatly contribute to achieving sustainable development goals in developing countries."
The forum consisted of three sessions, discussing topics such as ▲sharing Korea's experience to enhance firm technology in developing countries ▲digital technology development strategies for ICT entrepreneurs in developing countries ▲and development plans for innovative agricultural technologies in Africa and Korea.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance stated, "We plan to continue actively sharing Korea's experience in innovation and digital sector development with developing countries through ongoing cooperation with the World Bank, contributing to the promotion of sustainable economic and social development in developing countries."
