Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongbuk Imposes Up to 200,000 KRW Fine for Obstructing Electric Vehicle Charging
Illegal Parking and Charging Obstruction in Charging Zones to Be Cracked Down from July 1
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk Province, will conduct intensive crackdowns starting from the 1st of next month on illegal parking and charging obstruction within electric vehicle charging zones to establish a proper electric vehicle charging culture.
The city will operate a promotion and guidance period until the end of June, and impose fines of up to 200,000 KRW for illegal parking and charging obstruction in all charging zones marked as electric vehicle charging areas.
The targets for crackdown and fines are as follows: ▲ Parking of general vehicles in charging zones (100,000 KRW) ▲ Electric vehicles parked continuously beyond a certain time (fast charging 1 hour, slow charging 14 hours) (100,000 KRW) ▲ Loading goods or similar acts within charging zones (100,000 KRW) ▲ Intentional damage to charging facilities or charging zone markings (200,000 KRW).

A Gyeongsan City official stated, “The number of illegal activity reports has surged 21 times compared to the same period last year, so instead of immediately imposing fines, we will operate an intensive promotion and guidance period until the end of June,” adding, “We will make every effort to promote so that no citizens suffer disadvantages due to illegal parking of general vehicles at electric vehicle charging stations.”
