According to Chungnam Province on the 28th, this project aims to improve the landscape of fishing villages and discover regionally specialized projects led by residents to create jobs and revitalize the local economy.
Transferred from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in 2017, this project has selected seven areas in Chungnam from 2018 to 2022, carrying out projects worth a total of 45.5 billion KRW.
The newly selected areas in this contest (to be implemented in 2023) are Janggok 4-ri area in Taean-gun (Happy Living Space Creation type), Eoundol area in Taean-gun (Multi-value Workplace Creation type), and Taean-gun (City/County Capacity Enhancement type), receiving 10.3 billion KRW in national and local government funding according to the selection results.
The main projects these areas will pursue include improving village environments to enhance living conditions in fishing villages, constructing welfare facilities for fishermen, establishing income-based facilities utilizing fishing village resources such as seafood distribution and sales centers and fishing village experience facilities, as well as strengthening resident capabilities and revitalizing communities.
In particular, Eoundol Village in Taean, selected for the Multi-value Workplace Creation project, plans to promote the project aiming to establish the ‘nation’s first marine leisure village resort center.’
The project implementation period is from January next year to December 2027.
