Im Gwan-hyeok Appointed as New Chief of Eastern District Prosecutors' Office: "Let's Be Faithful to Law and Principles"
Emphasizing 'Gongpyeongmusa'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Im Gwan-hyeok (46), the newly appointed chief prosecutor of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office, held an inauguration ceremony on the 27th and officially began his duties.
In his inaugural address that afternoon, Prosecutor Im emphasized "faithfulness to law and principles." He stated, "Recently, frequent changes in laws and systems have caused considerable confusion, and due to the reduction of prosecutorial investigative authority, there are concerns that we may not be able to keep up with increasingly sophisticated and advanced crimes, or that the protection of victims' rights may be delayed, among other issues."
He added, "If we faithfully perform our duties based on law and principles while gathering wisdom and sincerity, we will be able to fill the gaps and shortcomings in the criminal justice system." Furthermore, he said, "By reviewing our overall work and preparing improvement measures, this can also become an opportunity for a turning point toward further development."
Finally, he stated, "If we handle our work with an open mind and transparent attitude, treating matters fairly and impartially, and live humbly and with moderation, the public will soon send us encouraging applause."
