"Nice to meet you, Summer!" ... The Gyeongbuk Sea in New Clothes Awaits
From the 9th of Next Month, 23 Newly Renovated Local Beaches to Open
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The 23 beaches along the East Coast of Gyeongbuk, which will fully open from July, have been revamped.
Starting with Pohang Beach on the 9th of next month, beaches in Gyeongju, Yeongdeok, and Uljin will open on the 25th and operate until August 21.
Yeongildae Beach, a representative resort on the East Coast, has completely replaced the long wooden deck surrounding the beach and newly refurbished various convenience facilities.
Various events such as the Yeongildae Sand Festival, which could not be held due to COVID-19, and the National Water Motorcycle Championship will be held consecutively, offering unique experiences.
Chilpo Beach in Pohang has been neatly renovated with showers and restrooms for the influx of surfing enthusiasts.
At Wolpo Beach in Pohang, the traditional huritgmul (large fixed net) experience event, which was suspended due to COVID-19, will be held.
This offers a special time to learn about the traditional huritgmul fishing method and experience barehanded fishing, with surfing experiences also available as a bonus.
Najung Gounmorae Beach in Gyeongju also welcomes vacationers with a new look, connected to the recently opened auto camping site.
It features a total of 87 sites including 48 auto camping sites and 39 caravan sites, along with spacious showers and clean restrooms.
Oryu Beach in Gyeongju has also enhanced the convenience facilities of the auto camping site and will hold healing concerts to comfort vacationers tired from COVID-19 and the heatwave.
Yeongdeok Goraebul Beach, which attracts the most vacationers on the East Coast, has enriched attractions and activities such as the national camping site’s sculptural observatory, coastal walking trails, children’s playground, and bicycle rental.
Additionally, various events like the Tango Festival and Summer Festival will be held during the opening period, creating unique memories.
Gusan Beach in Uljin has also neatly refurbished the convenience facilities attached to the camping site.
In particular, visiting the beach in connection with the Hupo Marina completion ceremony (8.12) and the 14th Korea Cup International Yacht Competition (8.11~16) held in Uljin will double the enjoyment.
The province expects that with the lifting of social distancing and relaxation of mask-wearing, the number of vacationers visiting beaches this summer will increase compared to last year.
Accordingly, safety management personnel and lifesaving equipment will be secured at each beach, and multi-use facilities will be inspected to ensure vacationers can use them safely and comfortably.
Although distancing has been lifted, thorough quarantine management will be maintained by regularly ventilating and disinfecting indoor multi-use facilities according to daily quarantine guidelines.
