Students File Complaints Against Weightlifting Coach for Assault... Police Launch Investigation
Recent Complaint Filed... Coach Excluded from Duties
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The police have recently received a complaint regarding student assault and have begun an investigation.
On the 26th, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced that they had received a complaint against Coach A of the weightlifting team at Korea National Sport University (KNSU) and have started an investigation. Coach A is accused of assaulting students belonging to the weightlifting team in the KNSU dormitory. It is also reported that Coach A struck students on the head with a hockey stick. He is currently excluded from weightlifting team duties.
In relation to this, KNSU is known to have not reported the incident to the Sports Ethics Center, the Korea Weightlifting Federation, or the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee.
KNSU was previously suspected of concealing an on-campus assault incident in June 2020.

A police official stated, "We have recently received the complaint and are identifying the circumstances of the case," adding, "We plan to conduct a thorough investigation into the details of the incident."
