Gwangju Seo-gu Office Transition Committee Strengthens Field-Centered Activities... Specifies District Administration Direction
Kim Ikang Elected Representative Visits Frequent Flooding Areas... Checks Flood Prevention Status
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The transition committee for the 8th term mayor of Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (hereinafter referred to as the transition committee) is strengthening its field-centered activities and concretizing the direction and content of the 8th term district administration.
At the same time, it is actively working on fundamental measures for long-standing local issues.
According to the transition committee on the 24th, Kim Yi-gang, the mayor-elect, visited the residential area near Seoseok High School in Hwajeong-dong, Seo-gu, a frequent flooding area, and the Taepyeonggyo area of Yangdong Market on the day the full-scale rainy season began to inspect the status of flood prevention projects.
Mayor-elect Kim said, “Protecting citizens' lives and property safely must not become a ‘too little, too late’ administration,” and added, “We will focus administrative power on fundamentally solving problems in areas where large-scale flooding damage occurs every time there is a short-term heavy rain.”
Following this, Mayor-elect Kim and the transition committee members visited the Seo-gu Cultural Center to check the status of the Munye Hall, Youth Training Center, and Public Library, and exchanged opinions on future operational directions.
Mayor-elect Kim stated, “We will listen carefully to voices from the field and work with experts and public officials to prepare improvement plans so that facilities providing various administrative services?from cultural enjoyment and leisure activities to lifelong learning for Seo-gu residents?can fulfill their functions and roles.”
The Seo-gu mayor transition committee is carrying out schedules such as district administration work reports by division, review of major issues, and hearing opinions from the field.
On the 27th, work reports from 18 neighborhoods will be conducted to reflect Mayor-elect Kim’s core district administration philosophy into policy.
