‘A Happy World Comes When You Smile’ Special Lecture by Comedian Eom Young-su
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jeonnam (Chairman Lee Baek-gu) invited comedian Eom Young-soo to hold the 5th Gwangyang Leaders Academy ‘Ieum’ special lecture under the theme “A World Where Smiling Brings Happiness.”
The special lecture held on the 23rd (Thursday) at 4 p.m. at the World Marine Center International Conference Hall was attended by 150 people including Kim Kyung-ho, Deputy Mayor of Gwangyang City; Jang Jin-young, Chief of Gwangyang Police Station; Park Sung-hyun, President of Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority; Song Sang-rak, Director of Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority; Ko Chan-joo, Deputy Director of POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks; elected members of city and provincial councils; representatives and officials from related organizations, companies, civil society groups, and media outlets.
Chairman Lee Baek-gu said, “‘Ieum,’ which ambitiously started in 2019 as a forum for public discussion to expand empathy and exchange within the Gwangyang community, had many regrets due to interruptions caused by COVID-19. I am sincerely pleased that we are making a fresh start as we transition back to daily life.”
He added, “I sincerely hope that the laughter and wisdom of life that blossomed during the special lecture will energize and bring positive energy beyond this event to the entire local community. Like the restarted ‘Ieum,’ we will do our best to serve as a bridge between companies and the local community to further revitalize the regional economy.”
The Gwangyang Leaders Academy ‘Ieum,’ launched in April 2019 with participation from local companies, related organizations, and civil society groups, is recognized for contributing to regional economic revitalization by providing a forum to share major policies and local issues, build knowledge and dignity as core leaders, and promote mutual cooperation and community development.
